This exhibition might have been called something like "Slipping into and Out of Abstraction" as our works tend to hover on the edge of the slippage territory of abstract art. There are figurative elements to be seen, most prominantly in Geoff's work, while Gino has a mix of complete abstractions as well as mixed media works that combine traditional photographs with painting to create pieces that hang in a transitory conceptual space. My works here come from completely abstract and mathematical beginings, but many have visual elements that hint at physical manifestations of dreamlike elements, or portray pshchological and emotional spaces. Perceptograms for want of a better word.

Anyhow, lots of bright colourful energising works in this show so come along and have a look.

We also have a wide range of prices for our artworks. Prices start at under $50, so there is something for everyone here and of course some of these artworks would make excellent Christmas presents.

Geoff is a Wollongong artist with a love for the sea and a talent with oils and acrylics.

He continues to share his time between sculpture and painting. His sculptures are mainly works in clay interspersed with some carving in wood and stone. His paintings vary between oil, watercolour, and watercolour and pencil combinations.

Along with the variety of mediums, the subjects of his work are varied. From realistic impressionist landscapes to abstraction. Travel, human form, fauna and flora are still his main inspirations with the subject dictating the medium.

I was sorting through some of my early works that had been stored away, and was interested to see these works again after a period of time. It gave me an opportunity to see my journey from my student days to being an emerging artist. I found it to be very instructive to look back and see my artistic progression so I decided to include a number of these early pieces in this show.

These works have never been exhibited before outside of the TAFE “Karoona Gallery”, and I have decided to call my part of this Exhibition “Recycling” as I am reviving some of my interesting early works to form a mini retrospective.

My personal feeling is to be free of any rules; I draw and paint using my imagination, fusing the past and the present of my life, taking advantage of my old age and using my entire life experience.

I hope the viewers can understand my works and my emotion as an abstract artist.

The works in this show are all recently produced and created entirely from scratch using various software packages.

I have produced a nuber of works for this show which relate in some way to artists that have influenced me in the past. Check out my exhibition gallery to see if you can tell who they are.
