A Brief Biography

Born Pakistan 1957, English Father, Austrian Mother.

Made first installation near bathroom at the age of 2.

Painted first abstract oil painting at the foot of my mother's easel aged 3.

Family moved back to England in 1963.

Dad gave me first box camera at age 9 .

English Grammar School Education, Psychology at UCL, London University. Epiphany about Life the Universe and Everything at the end of a statistics exam. Concluded that  truth was not to be found in academia so went to work in grim European factories and started taking "Action" photographs.

Returned to London and studied the philosophy of barlife as Union Bar manager of UCL,worked in a clinic of Chinese medicine and taught myself all aspects of darkrtoom D&P. In 1983 bought a round the world airline ticket, met my partner Sharon and still went travelling round the world with a Yashica SLR and two Zeiss lenses. Had  great times in Nepal, Oz and Tahiti.

Returned to London to buy a flat with Sharon, worked as a freelance photographer and London cabbie. Interesting times in 80s London at the height of yuppiedom.

Sharon got a research position at the Australian National Universisty, so we moved to Canberra in 1992. Sharon got a tenured position at Wollongong Uni in 1996 and here we are to this day.

Persuaded by friends  in 2005 to stop storing my artworks and photos in drawers and get them out to the greater world. Took the plunge and got a solo exhibition at Project Contemporary Artspace in Wollongong in early 2006. Became a committee member and web manager for Project.

My main artistic interests at present are pursuing the bounds of digital imaging and trying to image my intuition.
