The Beauty and the Beast (Open Section)

Snakes, not to mention venomous snakes, are often feared by man. However, like most other wild animals, snakes like the king brown snake (Pseudechis australis), the largest of all of the Australian venomous snakes, are never aggressive, and hence if approached gently will not attack humans. However, due to its omnivorous diet, this species is now rapidly disappearing from cane toad (Bufo marinus) infested areas in the Top End of Australia.
