Banksia spinulosa (the Hairpin Banksia) is found along much of Australia’s east coast and occupies a wide variety of habitats, including coastal headlands, forest and mountain areas. This species is the topic of research currently being undertaken within the ICB, investigating long-term flowering patterns, the scale of pollen dispersal and genetic divergence among plants from different habitat types. The B. spinulosa plant seen in the foreground of this photo has secured itself a prime spot, overlooking the spectacular Fitzroy Falls in Morton National Park, NSW.
