Helping Hands: Eastern Bristlebird in Jack Baker's hands
(Open Section)
Research to save the endangered Eastern Brisltebird was initiated by Jack Baker in 1992 and has been ongoing. In 2008, Jean Clarke and Jack Baker translocated 50 Eastern Bristlebirds from Barren Grounds Nature Reserve to Sydney Catchment Special Area. The work was intense and arduous and highly emotional with the welfare of the birds always paramount. It is a privilege to handle such beautiful and sensitive birds. The incidental birds caught in the net were released after being identifed, amired and sometimes photographed.
