"The Danger of Migrating"

The floodplains of the Top End in Australia become inundated during the monsoonal wet-season. However, during the dry season the water table rapidly drops, and aquatic animals such as long-necked turtles (Chelodina rugosa) have to move to permanent bodies of water. These seasonal migrations are not without risks, and many turtles fall victim to predators such whistling kites (Haliastur sphenurus).
