The East Australian Current (EAC), made famous in Disney's movie Finding Nemo, streams southwards down the east coast of Australia. The Zeehan Current, which moves eastwards along the southern coastline of Australia, meets the EAC at the south-eastern corner of Australia. My research examines how these currents affect the dispersal of larvae of rocky shore marine invertebrates which in turns influences the distribution of each species genes. Wombarra lies on the NSW south coast half-way down the EAC and its invertebrates would therefore be expected to have similar genes to other populations found along the east coast, but different from those of the southern coast of Victoria.
