The first photographic evidence of a previously unknown threatening process for the obligate seeding Persoonia shrubs in the coastal heath communities of Royal National Park. The picture shows a particularly virulent outbreak of the rare South Australian Kymbo Canker. Unfortunately, the canker consumed the left foot of Dr Sherman's trusty assistant Monica before we realised the gravity of the situation. Only the quick thinking of Dr Sherman, seen here donning the hi-tech regulation-issue ICB plasto glove, saved her from further dissolution. Only time will tell the impact of this scourge on the vegetation communities of Royal National Park.
