I am researching modes of environmental governance that effectively respond to biodiversity conservation as well as the social justice issues of Indigenous peoples. I camped with Indigenous Sámi reindeer herders at Pietsjaure, a summer reindeer herding camp in the Laponia World Heritage Area, arctic Sweden, to investigate their involvement in the management of the WHA. Sámi have been hunting and herding reindeer in Laponia for 7,000 years.
