Newcomb Bay, Casey station, Antarctica

Not a bad field site, huh? The
region around Casey station supports some of the most diverse flora
of continental Antarctica. Mosses were collected from the region
to determine how fast they grow through radiocarbon dating, how
they use UV-screening pigments to cope with elevated UV from the
ozone hole, and whether the increased UV has caused mutation in
these plants.
